Economic Stimulus Package

Have you heard the latest news?  You can turn your receipts into cash.  Persons Spending $300 or More Within The City Can Receive a$30 Gift Card.

The City of Lancaster today launched the Shop and Dine gift card portion of its ongoing Local Economic Stimulus Package. Under the program, persons spending $300 or more within the City can turn in their receipts to City Hall and receive a$30 Shop and Dine gift card. The gift cards are as good as cash at any of hundreds of participating Lancaster merchants.

California Poppy Festival

It' that time of year again.   The 2009 California Poppy Festival is scheduled for April 25-26, 2009 - Lancaster City Park.  The Poppy Festival runs from 10am to 6pm on both days, and takes place rain or shine. Admission prices are $8 for adults (13-61), $5 for seniors and children (6-12) and free for children under 5. Parking is free.

CHA was a Blast!

WOW!  I had a great time at CHA.  If you haven't heard of CHA, it stands for Craft & Hobby Association.  It is a HUGH Craft & Hobby Show.  For more information on CHA you can go to their site.  Craftandhobby.org.

So many things to see and so little time.  My first order of business was Penny Black.  Penny Black stamps are sooo cute!  This is a sample board using their critter stamps.

Next stop Spellbinders.  I was so excited to meet Stacey (Owner) and her mom.  They are both Fab-u-lous women.  Thanks for the picture mom.
While I was there I had a chance to caught Wendy Wexler demo'ing a new Spellbinders product, Impressabilities.  They are a thin metal that can be cut apart.  And, yes I will be getting them in my store: CardBuzzCrafts.com

Baby's 1st Birthday

Not only was it my grandson's 1st birthday this past weekend, but the CHA Show.  For those of you who don't know, CHA is a HUGE Craft & Hobby Show for of all kinds of crafts.  I "Had"  to party with the baby on Monday Jan 26 in San Diego and then head out to  Anaheim for the craft show which was Sunday Jan 25th through Wednesday Jan 28th.

Well, Jordyn Cecil made it to his first birthday celebration party and what a party it was.  Kids and adults from all around.  He had a great time and lots of pictures and film to prove it.  The only thing I think he wasn't fond of was the cake frosting on his fingers.  That sticky stuff just wouldn't come off.

Arcylic Cards

Shari Carroll was Hero Arts featured blogger.   Shari made pocket cards all week.  Here is a acrylic card that I loved so much I wanted to share it with you.

This arylic card has been folded about 1 1/2″ (4cm) from the bottom.  Think of these as a school folder with pockets on the inside.  Stamp the card with white StazOn before creasing.  Just score and fold the same way you would a regular notecard.

  Punch holes and thread ribbon to hold the pockets in place.

Inchie collage cards

Create fun inchie collage cards with one of Hero Arts Sparkle Clear stamps.  You can purchase the Sparkle Clear My Art  set in my Store.

 Hero Art materials you will need to make this card:

MS202  Colorbox Chalk Queue - Chocolates & Blueberries

Neutral Mixed Notecards with Envelopes


Additional Materials: Basic Grey Paper and buttons, brown string, heavy thread, clothing pin and pearl.

 

What to do...

1. Using brown and creme inks stamp the script, frame and flourish shadow in a vertical row just to the right of center of a white panel.

2. Stamp the little flower and “So You” over the other images with brown ink. Cut a strip of decorative paper and affix to the panel.

3. Back the panel with brown card stock. Stamp “hello” onto Kraft card stock, trim and mount to card with a decorative pin.

4.  Wrap the panel with brown string, thread through pin and tie with a knot.

5. Mount the panel to an Okra card. Add pearls, flowers and buttons to finish.
